News of The Rally in Centennial Park

Bash, Debbie and Donna missed the caravan to Atlanta with the Prattville and Wetumpka Tea Party Patriots. We parked at the Airport, jumped on Marta and made it to Centennial Park just in time.

The Health Care Rally was well organized. Every one coming in received an armband so they could get as close to an accurate count as possible. That was a good idea, as the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported 3,000 and there were over 12,000 in attendance.

After finding the Gerritson's, Sullivan's, Pam Burkhardt and her crew, greeting them with a quick hello, Bash, Debbie and I made our way down front and center.

We were armed with our signs, Liberty bells, enthusiasm and determination to learn from others, take what we learn and share in a way that will wake up our Nation to restore it to the form of Government that made America a truly great Nation.

I can't speak for them, but for me, hearing Herman Cain was worth every second. Dick Armey is a true believer in free markets and I was so glad to hear him mention the Mises Institute. I heard others mention the principle of free markets and speak of Hayek, I strongly suggest you read, "The Road to Serfdom". The song "Give Me Back My America" almost moved me to tears. The Doctors, Insurance Commissioner and others on the panel know what they are talking about. They know what it takes for true reform. Tort Reform, open insurance markets across state lines and letting Physicians and patients work out the details of health care on their own. I laughed when one of the speakers told us the story of his father, an opthalmologist in north Alabama would come home with a bag of squash as payment from one of his patients. That is what America is all about. Personal responsibility and using your God given mind to work out solutions that are best for you and your family.

The Patriot movement, whether you are organizing, attending meetings, calling your congressman/woman or writing a check needs to continue to educate and motivate everyone to keep going until we win.
It is not only our right, it is our DUTY to be ever vigilant in keeping our Constitution the ONLY playbook to use when those elected make decisions. If we want change, the only way to make that change is through amendments that have to be approved by 2/3 of the states.

I urge you to continue speaking up and showing up, keep voicing your opinion LOUD and CLEAR as is your first amendment right to freedom of assembly and freedom of speech. Use the internet, listen to the voices of freedom, watch Freedomwatch with Judge Andrew Napolitano on Foxnews.net, listen to talk radio, in Montgomery WACV Newstalk 107.9, read the constitution, become so familiar with it you can answer any question, attend the series of Freedom Forums coming your way, March on Washington DC September 12 and if you cannot, sponsor someone you know who is planning to go. Get out there and save America for your children and grandchildren.

We had a true Conservative running for President in 2008 who was ridiculed, ignored and marginalized by those who claim to love freedom and call themselves Conservatives. If every one had been paying attention, Ron Paul, one of the only Congressmen in DC to NEVER vote for anything unconstitutional would be our President. He worked with Ronald Reagan on his first campaign, he has been in the military, he was a successful practicing Obstetrician who refused to accept Medicare/Medicaid and treated those without insurance or means to pay for free. That's health care, that's true free market principles, that's a true statesman. This man has nothing in his past to be ashamed of or try to hide. This man married his College sweetheart, raised five children, practiced Medicine and was elected a Congressman from Texas. This man is a Christian that loves America, the Constitution and unashamedly, despite jeers and disrespect from his fellow congressmen/women for following the Constitution, never falters and never fails. What he has predicted for America economically has come true. He has been a lone voice in the wilderness of the so called conservatives. Look what we have now by failing to be true conservatives and holding our noses, picking the lessor of two evils. Shame on those who fall for this and call others names or try to blame what we have now on those who refuse to vote for the lessor of two evils.

There are others out there with the same principles of Congressman Paul. Rand Paul of Kentucky is running for Congress, Peter Schiff is running to defeat Chris Dodd, Adam Kokesh is running for Congress in New Mexico. These men believe in free markets, fiscal responsibility and limited Government. Don't let them be hidden, ridiculed or shut out of the media again. Let's find those in Alabama with the same ethics and unshakable strength of these men that will always uphold the Constitution and our right to live as free people in the greatest Nation on Earth.

To paraphrase one of the speakers: "We will NOT be quiet, we will NOT be quiet, we will NOT be quiet."

I hope we learn that just because a person calls themselves a Republican does not necessarily make them conservative, or when one labels oneself a Democrat they are not always a socialist. I hope we learn there is no more difference in a lukewarm conservative and a half-hearted liberal, we see the results of what comes of us when we fall for the likes of them.

Use the Constitution as your guide and demand candidates that will uphold it before you try to convince others to vote. It will be difficult and demanding of us, but if we do our duty and stand fast to our convictions we will prevail. We will win and we will restore our Republic.

Health Care Rally in Centennial Park August 15th

Bash, Donna and Debbie missed the caravan to the Rally in Centennial Park in Atlanta but made the Rally in time. We parked at the airport, hopped the Marta and made one transfer and were there in a flash.

After we had our bags and backpacks checked and got our armbands to enter the park. We made the acquaintance of a nice young Doctor who works at an inner city clinic in Atlanta, proof that all Doctors are not "greedy capitalists", even though that is their right. Will her clinic become a victim of the new breed of Doctors that will come about as a result of a public option health care system? Will the proposed system insure the poor will not have access to quality Doctors? Just a thought.

Hey everybody! Rep. Bright will be in town tomorrow. WE NEED YOU TO BE THERE!! It is important that we show our solidarity and that he see how many of us want him to vote "NO" on this health care bill. Organizing for America, the right arm for Obama, WILL be there at the 2:00 event. They want Bright to vote "YES"

I think everyone in American wants reform but we don't want it in the form of a government takeover. Please come and express your concerns. Let's have a bigger crowd than Organizing for America. Don't act like a jerk! Of course I know you won't, but the media is waiting for us to act stupidly and get it on tape. Bring your signs etc. If you can't make the 2:00 event please try to go to one of the others to share your concerns. This is the time to make your voice heard!

One thing we learned from the organizing for Obama meeting last night is that they are not informed on the issues and we can shout them down without shouting. We are armed with the facts and a lot of determination.

A few fellow Patriots, along with myself, attended by invitation, an Organizing for America, Montgomery AL listening tour. There were about 70-80 attendees, with about half in opposition to Government intervention into our health care and decision making with our physicians. Which translates in Democratic language as rich, greedy and uncaring people that do not like to share. Sad, sad, sad. The Organizer was a nice young lady and she had an RN assisting her.
The RN told us the nurses association was for health care reform, but the best I could glean from her conversation is that nurses should be used as physicians. Which actually backs up what my Doctor and I discussed about his worries, he is a Democrat and is concerned about the current bill, that he would have to increase his daily volume of patients to the point where if I am lucky if I will be able to see him, much less have a conversation or continue a pretty good Doctor/patient relationship as far as we are both concerned. But the most likely scenario would be that I would see a nurse or nurse practitioner. Deteriorating a working relationship.
That is about all I gleaned from the nurses talking points. Someone else may have gotten something I missed.
The mission of the OFA is to advance the principles of Obama's agenda's concerning health care and other things. These can be found on the website, www.barackobama.com. The three principles of health care are reducing costs, insurance costs and access to quality health care.

I made a comment and asked a question. My comment was, A good salesperson knows and understands the product, how can I sell someone something if I don't understand what I am talking about? I thought this was a good question, pretty neutral and something every one would want to know. A lady replied something like this: The people don't need to know/understand the issue, they just need to know they can get insurance and be covered. Something about walking in someone else' shoes before you make judgements, you can be more compassionate, or some other platitude. I thought a legitimate question before you try talking to someone so you don't make an idiot out of yourself or lose credibility was common sense. I have walked in shoes of which she knows nothing and I am compassionate, but I believe charity begins at home, in the church and the community. Charity at the point of coercion from guilt, taxation or a gun is not charity, it is theft. I did not voice that aloud.

Some of the dissenters were going back to talking about what is in the bill, the organizer asked how many people have read the bill and seemed surprised to see a pretty good show of hands, mostly, probably all were the opposition.

She did keep insisting we were not there to discuss the issues, but to discuss how to organize in our communities to gain public support of the issue. She would not discuss the issues other to say the talking points are on the website.

One lady stood up and told us about having to take her children out of All Kids plan and use Medicaid forcing her to use Doctors on the West side that are not as good as the East side Doctors. I guess she and the rest missed the irony that we'll all be facing her "West Side Doctors", but worse than that, she insulted the system that most likely gave her "West side" Doctors race based preference and leaving out some one that could have been better suited and more qualified. I think most people missed that as well.

ady suggested making weekend voter registration drives in heavily populated areas.

We were broken into groups to discuss how to get people out to support Obama's agenda. I kid you not, Obama's agenda. I have been cautioning people not to use his name as we don't need negative press and to try to prove that Congress should be putting the reins on the President. Something they have not done in years.

I am proud to say our group gave the best suggestion and that was to get out to see Bobby Bright tomorrow. We heard he would be at The Barber Shop on Carter Hill Rd. at 2:00 PM. I hope we got that right, I really hate to pass on incorrect information. Of course, we are telling everyone else about being there to greet Congressman Bright. We will find out if at all possible if this information is correct and we'll pass it along as soon as possible.

One thing the organizer and others in support of Obama's agenda's kept going to is "they (the opposition) are spreading fear and misinformation about the health care plan. If you hear of someone or read something you think is against Obama's plans email the organizer and she will pass it along.

The local Democratic Headquarters are taking talking points and marching orders from Washington DC.
The paper I brought home clearly states in a box on the bottom: Paid for by Organizing for America, a Project of the Democratic National Committee-430 South Capitol St. SE, Washington DC, 2003?. This Communication is not Authorized by any Candidate or Candidate's Committee. Printed in house. It has the Obama Logo on the Top of the page, so I do not see how it could have been printed in 2003, that must be a typo. You go to the website for the talking points.

The Solution

Reform the health care system:

We will take steps to reform our system by expanding coverage, improving quality, lowering costs, honoring patient choice and holding insurance companies accountable.

Promote scientific and technological advancements:

We are committed to putting responsible science and technological innovation ahead of ideology when it comes to medical research. We believe in the enormous capacity of American ingenuity to find cures for diseases that continue to extinguish too many lives and cause too much suffering every year.

Improve preventative care:

In order to keep our people healthy and provide more efficient treatment we need to promote smart preventative care, like cancer screenings and better nutrition, and make critical investments in electronic health records, technology that can reduce errors while ensuring privacy and saving lives.

I have found no talking points that sell the issue to the people, just what you see above. The work of the citizens to get the agenda through, but no clear idea of what the agenda is or how we'll pay for it. Just know this, your rights will come from Government and not God and Nature's Law.

Local media via CBS covered the event and I missed watching it while writing this, but I'm sure I'll get a chance to see it again.

My final thoughts on the event. We are clearly divided by those who care about the issues and those that want something for nothing no matter what the cost to Americans.
I like knowing both sides of an issue before I make a decision. They keep preaching education, but there is no clear plan or effort for true education at least as far as I can see. Where are the facts? This group clearly could not give educated answers as to why the proposed Obama plan is better than open markets, small business with pooling with other small business to provide better and less expensive insurance. Did not know what interstate policy purchasing was. Did not seem to think aids reading the bills instead of those that will actually vote was a big deal. Could not offer one convincing point to me that we should get anyone to support the Obama agenda. Rather, I thought that Government education and entitlements will continue to close open and honest dialogue and there is not much hope of either side of the issue agreeing on whether reform is needed and what type of reform will be in the best interest of the taxpayer, patients, doctors and individual liberties.
The nurses and hospital associations will be sure to gain as the nurses will be used in roles they did not have to pay to be educated and hospitals will not bear the brunt of treating the uninsured. One could argue that insurance costs may be lowered due to hospitals not bearing that brunt, but no one has a plan other than borrowing more money to implement a medical system based on Canadian and European models of which the citizens of those countries are not fond.

Dear Friend of Liberty,

As Barack Obama continues to push his massive Government Healthcare Rationing Scheme on the American public, it’s never been more important that we stand up and fight.

Politicians in Washington and the talking heads on TV all agree that something must be done to “fix” healthcare, but they merely echo the Administration’s position that only government solutions can address this problem government caused in the first place.

Almost no one is talking about an actual free market answer to reducing costs and restoring healthcare decisions to where they belong -- between patients and doctors.

No one, that is, except Ron Paul and Campaign for Liberty.

Instead of creating a massive, tangled web of bureaucracy to address obstacles arising from government overregulation, we demand that Congress actually allow the free market to work.

In that spirit, Campaign for Liberty supports healthcare reform that:

• Gives Americans control over their health care by giving them control over their health care dollar via tax credits and deductions similar to those outlined in Congressman Ron Paul's Comprehensive Health Care Reform Act (HR 1495).

• Protects privacy rights by allowing patients and physicians to opt-out of any government-mandated or funded system of electronic health care records, and repeals the federal law creating an "unique patient identifier" by adopting the policies contained in Congressman Ron Paul's Protect Patients and Physicians Privacy Act (HR 2630).

• Empowers doctors by softening antitrust law restrictions on health care professionals when they negotiate with insurers and medical providers. Our current system gives drug companies and corporate interests all the power.

It is vital that freedom-loving individuals tell their Representatives and Senators that they oppose this Big Government Healthcare power grab and support a free market solution. We must voice our opposition to tax hikes, government mandates, and redistributive taxpayer-funded “public” options.

In fact, just yesterday Campaign for Liberty delivered 18,992 petitions to Capitol Hill to send just that message.

So-called “experts” in the media say that Congress won’t act on socialized medicine until after August recess, but if we learned anything from the stimulus debacle, it’s that the big government ideologues in Congress are willing to force their radical agenda through while we are all sleeping -- and they’ll do it in a single night.

That’s why you and I have no time to waste. Please contact your Representative and Senators to demand a sensible free market solution to the healthcare crisis, and oppose any reform that:

• Raises taxes on any American.

• Forces Americans to purchase a government-approved health insurance plan, imposes fines or tax increases on individuals for failure to purchase health insurance, or conditions the receipt of any government benefit on the purchase or maintenance of health insurance. Instead, Congress should protect Americans from mandatory health insurance by adopting policies like those contained in Congressman Ron Paul's Coercion is Not Health Care Act (HR 2629).

• Establishes a government-run or taxpayer-financed health insurance system. Creation of a "public health insurance option" is a first step toward the complete nationalization of health care. Government-managed and financed health care will inevitability result in lower standards, waiting lines, and rationed care.

This event was a rousing success by every measure of the word. New estimates have the crowd at well above 500, we had many people sign the petitions, flag and volunteer their time. I have already emailed a couple of volunteers that gave me their contact information yesterday.

The group assembled at Overlook Park yesterday are the Patriots that will act. They gave up a few hours of their holiday to sit in the heat. They could have been at the beach, river, lake, poolside, BBQ, or simply "having a cold one" on their holiday. The fact that they did not choose the easy way, but rallied along side one another out of concern for our Nation tells me that they will not be swayed. They will not give in to political, social or uneducated pressure. They will not be swayed by a pretty facade or those who would use them for a photo opportunity. They will be there to protest and boycott or support as the need arises. This is our base of those willing to suffer hardships. Many will give up their lives and/or livelihoods to secure a free Nation for their progeny. They supported us yesterday with their time, financial means and intent to action.

We will work together to continue this uphill battle for our rights, financial stability and national sovereignty.

Our deep and heart felt appreciation goes out to Dr. Sam, Greg, Kevin, George, Bart, Becky and Tom for offering their time, it is invaluable aid for the Patriots.

Bash, Carol, Debbie (we missed you terribly), Lori, Edna, Karen, George, Lin, Mary, Don and Fred, you all know how to get things done and are a joy and treasure to plan and work beside.

I'll see you all at the Wetumpka Health Care Forum Tuesday and Thursday, July 7th and 9th. At the meeting on the 7th we will discuss our notes of the 4th, plan our next event and work on the March on Washington DC, September 12, 2009
